I have often pondered why all the scientific research that tells us to exercise 30 minutes a day, or five days a week, or 10 minutes a day, etc. doesn’t motivate people to exercise.
Let's say you wake up one morning and find yourself a sluggish, slushy mess. You decide this needs to stop, and that the answer is that you need to put some exercise into your life. What do you do? Do you go to the nearest research findings for motivation?
I tried for years to follow the latest and best scientific advice, which constantly was contradicting itself, until I finally THREW IT ALL AWAY!
Yes, I still know the research, but instead of trying to follow it, I started to listen to MY body. Yes, MY body. MINE...
I found out that my body loves to move.... sometimes for 10 minutes, sometimes for an hour. It is actually all great, and the results are a fitter, injury-free body and happier mind.
So, by all means, read the research, then go out and do what feels good to you!
